This quick moving Messiah

Read

Having made the crossing, Jesus and his disciples came to land at Gennesaret and tied up. No sooner had they stepped out of the boat than people recognised him, and started hurrying all through the countryside and brought the sick on stretchers to wherever they heard he was. And wherever he went, to village, or town, or farm, they laid down the sick in the open spaces, begging him to let them touch even the fringe of his cloak. And all those who touched him were cured.

Mark 6:53-56

Reflect

There seems to be no stopping Jesus as he moves from place to place, to village, town and farm. Goes out of his way to show them the Way. He is easily recognised, this quick moving Messiah, makes heads turn, hearts yearn. The stretchered sick are placed before him. He is in touching distance to the crowds who clamour to touch his cloak, stretchered in the open space they stretch their arms with faith enough in being at the fringe of Jesus to be healed of whatever ails and fails them. What do we reach for? Are we always seeking to be in touching distance of Christ. And how much faith in him do we have in this quick moving Messiah?

Pray

God our Father, may we seek Christ in all we do and say, and in all whom we meet today. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
